Snapchat Predator Arrested After Traveling 800 Miles To Do The Unthinkable
Police say a cross-country predator was arrested in a dramatic sting operation after traveling more than 800 miles to meet who he believed was a minor he had been messaging on Snapchat.
According to investigators, the suspect had been communicating with what he thought was a 13-year-old, sending explicit messages and making plans to meet. Instead, he was speaking to undercover detectives posing as the child.
Once the suspect committed to traveling across multiple states, authorities coordinated with local police to intercept him the moment he arrived.
Bodycam footage shows officers surrounding the suspect’s vehicle in a hotel parking lot just minutes after he checked in. Startled and visibly shaken, he attempted to deny everything—until officers revealed the chat logs and travel records in his own name.
Police say the man carried gifts, clothing, and other items he intended to bring to the “child.”
He was arrested on the spot and now faces charges including attempted exploitation of a minor, traveling to meet a minor for illegal purposes, and using a communication platform to commit a felony.
Investigators say the case highlights how far some offenders will go—and underscores the importance of undercover operations protecting children online.
