Shoplifter Turns on Her Cousin the Moment Police Arrest Them

Police bodycam footage captured the chaotic moment a routine shoplifting call spiraled into unexpected family drama. Officers arrived at a local department store after security detained two women suspected of filling their bags with unpaid merchandise. But as soon as handcuffs came out, the cousins’ loyalty shattered instantly.

According to police, both women initially denied the allegations, insisting it was all a “misunderstanding.” But when officers recovered concealed items and informed them they were both under arrest, one cousin immediately shifted blame.

In the footage, the first suspect points directly at her partner, saying “It was all her idea—I told her not to! Check the cameras!” Her cousin fires back, accusing her of being the one who planned the theft. Officers say the two began arguing loudly in the parking lot, each trying to distance themselves as the true culprit.

Ultimately, both were transported to the county jail on misdemeanor theft charges. Store security confirmed that the pair had acted together, despite their last-second attempts to turn on each other.

Police later commented that it’s not uncommon for suspects to “flip” when consequences become real—but rarely does it happen so quickly or so dramatically between family members.
